As the saying goes, going to a church doesn't make you a christian any more than going to a garage makes you a car. Of the millions of churches in the world, it is your choice which one you go to. Christianity was founded on the ministry and teachings of Jesus Christ.  Does your church focus on the core teachings of Jesus?  Or does the cool band take precedence?  Does everyone equally participate in the sanctuary?  Or does your family get carved up like a Christmas turkey?  You know what I mean,"Teens this way",  "6-12 year old's that way", and, "you must put your baby in the 'cry' room", even though he or she is not crying! Have you chosen this atmosphere because you enjoy it, or because you think it's right or okay?

What is the goal of the church you go to?  Are they more interested in the "traditions",  (or teachings of mankind), or those of Christ? Are they more interested in how you feel, or what they are teaching you?

Jesus wants us to follow all of His teachings, not just the ones that make us feel good about ourselves.  If this is a hard pill to swallow, take a look a Luke chapter 9.  Jesus says, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me."  Christianity is about denying yourself, not the warm fuzzies that it will give you.  It is very much a Christ centered theology, not a man centered theology.

If you are attending a church because you want a warm Fuzzie, or the hopes of a perfect life here on earth, or something as simple as that big sale or that close parking space at the mall, Jesus will not always get them for you.  Those aren't the fringe benefits.  He will not always cure the disease or fix your unique problem.  And when He doesn't, what then?

The reason so many people leave the faith is because of these "modern" churches that promise health, wealth, and prosperity, only to have the "christian" face disease, poverty, and misery and declare, "Jesus didn't work for me."  Another soul headed to hell thanks to the "modern" gospel.

If you have chosen and enjoy this modern Gospel and all that comes with it, or if you've chosen to put what you think the truth is in place of the real truth, then, technically speaking, you might not be a Christian.  Get on the Rapture Road if you are concerned.

Just read what God has to say, through the Apostle Paul, about man made traditions, religion, and denominations:

1st Corinthians 1:10

"Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment."

Joined together? Same mind? Hardly.
